Testimony of Alexander James
Freeman, Student.
September 9, 2003
Good Morning. My name is Alexander Freeman, and you have seen my face
before. I am a junior at Brookline High School.
I, like so many students, took the MCAS test in the 10th grade. I
have difficulty in math and I may not pass, but let me assure you I am
trying my hardest.
I spend more than three hours every day on my homework, and my grades are
very good. I have taken regular education classes throughout my schooling,
except in math. I have made honor roll and do very well in English, History,
and other courses.
Denying me a diploma will severely affect my future. People will look at my
record and see that I did not graduate. They will think I am not smart. They
will think I am unable to hold a job. They will look down on me.
I have worked as hard if not harder than anyone for my diploma. What you are
doing is not fair and it’s not right.
